Frequently asked questions

Provider recognition for Naturopathy claiming is determined by each participating health fund and eligibility requirements may vary between funds.

Some requirements may include:

  • The member's health fund has chosen to participate in naturopathy claiming and has enabled the modality within its fund rules.

  • The health fund recognises the practitioner as an eligible provider. This may involve accreditation, health fund provider recognition processes, HICAPS provider registration, or a combination of these requirements.

  • The practitioner meets the relevant accreditation and eligibility requirements, which may include recognised qualifications, professional association membership, professional indemnity insurance and any fund-specific requirements.

  • The member's policy includes cover for Naturopathy and the member has sufficient remaining limits and benefits available under their policy.

For information about your eligibility and provider recognition requirements, please contact your professional association or the relevant health fund. HICAPS facilitates the submission of claims but does not determine provider eligibility, member eligibility or benefit entitlement.

Health fund participation will expand over time, with some funds enabling claiming sooner than others. Claim availability depends on both health fund participation and the member's level of cover and eligibility.

Currently, you can claim with Health Partners, Phoenix Health Insurance and ACA Health Benefits Fund. You can claim with these funds through HICAPS.

You can request a provider number from HICAPS during or after the onboarding process.

To assess your eligibility, you'll need to provide supporting documentation, including:

  • Current association membership

  • Certificate of Currency for professional indemnity/public liability insurance

  • Current first aid certificate

  • Relevant qualification documentation (Certificate IV or higher, where applicable)
