Insurance Commission of Western Australia join HICAPS

From this August, select health practitioners (physiotherapists, general practitioners, osteopaths, chiropractors and medical specialists) will be able to process pre-approved treatments from Insurance Commission of Western Australia (Insurance Commission WA) via HICAPS.

The Insurance Commission WA funds treatment for injured claimants, including motorists and Government employees in Western Australia.

This initiative will help to deliver significant efficiencies by reducing the time for processing of payments from 20 days down to 24 hours (in most cases), providing faster settlement for both the health practitioner and the claimant.

HCF is undertaking a major systems upgrade. As part of the transition, regular services including online and on the spot claiming channels (including HICAPS) will be affected between the 1st and 6th of October 2020.

Supporting COVID-19 telehealth consultations

HICAPS has enabled telehealth services for Allied health practitioners in addition to the new temporary MBS item codes. Supporting the processing of telehealth services aims to help reduce the potential exposure to COVID-19.

Participating funds have now enabled Allied telehealth services for Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Speech Pathologists and Dietitians.


Tap'n'claim - nib digital fund cards

Nib members are now able to tap and claim (via HICAPS) and get real-time notifications about their claim within their health fund’s app.

Instead of swiping a plastic card at the HICAPS terminal, android phone users can now claim by tapping their device on the HICAPS Terminal.
