HICAPS Celebrates 25 Years in Health Claiming

On March 16th, 2023, HICAPS, Australia's leading health care claiming solutions, celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Crown Aviary in Melbourne. The event was a momentous occasion that brought together clients, association partners, and other industry players to celebrate the evolution of health care claiming and the significant role HICAPS has played in the industry's transformation.

Since its inception in 1998, HICAPS has been at the forefront of innovation in health care claiming solutions that make it easy for patients, health care providers, and private health insurers to manage claims and payments efficiently.

Over the years, HICAPS has evolved to meet the changing needs of the industry, and today it offers a range of innovative solutions that streamline health care claiming for providers and customers.

At the event, HICAPS CEO Simon Terry presented the evening, reflecting on the company's journey over the past 25 years. "When we started HICAPS, the concept of electronic health claiming was still in its infancy," Terry said. "We had a vision of a future where patients and providers could easily manage their claims and payments using technology, and we set out to make that vision a reality. It’s good to remember that when HICAPS started the Nokia 6110 and the Furby were the pinnacle of innovative tech"

The company has built strong relationships with its clients and association partners, including HCF, Specsavers, NIB, Members Health Alliance, Network Logic, Bupa, and Medibank, who have been with HICAPS every step of the way.

At the event, Dario Garma, Director of Customer Engagement, Specsavers spoke about their long-standing partnerships with HICAPS and the significant impact it has had on their businesses. " Over the many years, we’ve collaborated on enhancing the customer experience, by leveraging HICAPS technology. What can be a complex purchase, is made easier and seamless with HICAPS technology." said Garma. " We’ve always worked together with the customer at the centre of what we do. Our customers love walking away with our product and no out of pocket expense, which is enabled through HICAPS integration with the health funds. It’s just a great customer experience."

Similarly, nib, spoke of the important role HICAPS has played in supporting the private health insurance industry. "HICAPS changed the way members engaged with their health insurance.  Making health insurance easier, and simpler by paying claims on the spot, at the time of treatment meant less running around for our members, at a time when many of them may have been unwell or injured," Ryan Hutton Product Owner at NIB said. "The ability to pay providers directly on behalf of our members takes the hassle out of claiming."
