How do I claim?

HICAPS now offers you more!  You can now use HICAPS to lodge your health fund, Medicare and Worksafe Victoria claims.

After the consultation, your health fund or medicare card is simply swiped into the HICAPS terminal by the health service provider. Your claim details are entered and in seconds the whole transaction is processed.

WorkSafe claims are simply lodged using HICAPS by your health service provider and sent to WorkSafe for assessment.

The whole process is so quick and easy. No more queuing or claim forms to fill in. Next time you visit your health service provider, why not ask if you can use HICAPS to claim on the spot.

Do I need to pay for the full fee before I can claim my health fund rebate?

There's no need to pay the full consultation fee up-front then wait for the reimbursement of your benefit. Once your claim is authorised by the health fund, you simply pay the gap amount - the difference between the full fee for the treatment and the amount claimed from your health fund.

My health fund card does not have a magnetic strip?

It is possible that your health fund is not linked with HICAPS or you have an old Medibank Private card. Please refer to your Health Fund.

Are my treatment details confidential when claiming my health fund rebate?

Yes, your treatment details are sent directly to your health fund through the HICAPS system and can only be viewed by your provider and your health fund, utilising secure encryption protocol which fully protects your privacy.
