From 13 March 2020 to 30 September 2020 (inclusive), new MBS telehealth and telephone items are available for services provided to vulnerable people within the community or who are suspect cases in self-isolation due to COVID‑19.
New items have also been introduced to enable health practitioners in self-isolation or quarantine due to COVID‑19, or who are themselves vulnerable people, to provide essential services where appropriate.
The new COVID-19 items are available to GPs, other medical practitioners, specialists and consultant physicians (including psychiatrists), nurse practitioners, participating midwives and allied mental health providers.
The new services must be bulk billed and are for non-admitted patients.
The FAQs provide information on eligibility requirements, telehealth and telephone arrangements, bulk billing, claiming and referrals.
