    • When will my patients be able to tap and claim using their iPhone and Apple Watch?

      From 27th of July 2021, patients will be able to claim at a HICAPS terminal using their iPhone or Apple Watch.

    • Are all the health Funds issuing members digital cards?

      Currently Bupa, Medibank, nib, GU Health and HBF have enabled digital cards (both iOS and android).

    • How does a health fund member set up their pass (digital card) in their Apple Wallet?

      Health fund members can add their pass (digital card) to their iPhone or Apple Watch via their Health Insurer’s iPhone app. Eligible patients will receive information from their health fund on how to access their membership card from the Apple Wallet.

    • Can digital cards be used at all locations?

      An eligible member of participating health funds will only be able to use their digital card at registered providers that have HICAPS terminals. 

    • How does a patient "tap and claim" using a digital card?

      Please Note: The terminal must be active (not in sleep mode) to read the digital card. 

    • How will a patient know if their claim has been approved?

      Once a patient’s tap and claim has been successful, the HICAPS terminal will display a ‘claim approved’ message. 

    • Why has a patient’s claim been declined?

      There may be several reasons why a claim has been declined. If the HICAPS terminal does not provide an error response or the patient disputes this, get the patient to check directly with their health fund.
