Processing chip cards on the new HICAPS Terminal

HICAPS is pleased to announce that the new HICAPS terminal is now able to process chip cards, at no additional cost.
Chip cards, also known as smart cards or EMV cards aim to protect merchants and customers from counterfeit credit cards and fraudulent activity.
A chip card or smart card looks like a normal financial card except it has a small metal microchip located in the front of the card.
The changes you will notice include:
Processing: When your patient presents a card that is "chip" enabled, you will be required to insert the card into the terminal and complete the transaction rather than; swiping the card as you do currently.
Authorisation: Your patient will have the option to authorise their credit card transaction using their PIN or signing the receipt in the usual manner.
